Recently, MrBeast was asked by none other than the owner of X – Elon Musk – to start uploading videos onto that platform. MrBeast, who’s known for his YouTube content, initially declined. However, the content creator changed his tune, admitting that he was “curious” as to whether or not X would be a profitable platform for him. Well, that question is now answered, and MrBeast is revealing his decision to the world.
The Experiment
MrBeast chose to conduct the experiment with his video $1 vs $100,000,000 Car! The YouTuber wrote, “I’m curious how much ad revenue a video on X would make so I’m reuploading this to test it. Will share ad rev next week.” At that time, the clip had over 200 million views on YouTube. So, how did that same clip fare on X?
Success?
At first glance, it seems that the clip $1 vs $100,000,000 Car! found success on its new platform. MrBeast excitedly shared the news on X, writing, “MY FIRST X VIDEO MADE OVER $250,000!” However, the content creator isn’t sure this success is as meaningful as it may seem. He continued, “But it’s a bit of a facade. Advertisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think) and thus my revenue per view is prob higher than what you’d experience.” Perhaps he felt bad about disappointing fans, because, in typical MrBeast fashion, he then wrote, “I’m gonna give 10 random people that repost this and follow me $25,000 for fun (the $250,000 my X video made).”
Only time will tell if MrBeast uses X as his new platform moving forward.
